Teaching Approach

The teaching approach at Shepherd’s Care is best defined as play-based, child-directed and teacher supported.  Teachers ensure that your child has the time, space, resources and support for the chosen activities.  Teachers ask leading questions, allowing your child to do the activities at his/her own pace.  Your child is given the opportunity to manipulate real objects and learn through hands-on direct experiences.

A sufficient number of activities that support a theme are offered each day.  These activities are developed to support the following learning areas:  social and emotional development, language development and communication, literacy, mathematics, science, creativity, physical health and development and Christian lifestyle development.

Through these intentionally planned and teacher supported activities your child has many opportunities to develop the dispositions of creativity and curiosity.  Your child is free to explore and gain knowledge through hands-on experiences.
