Hi!  Welcome to my first blog post.

Before I get started, let me tell you a little bit about me. My name is Jane Tyson and I am a former Director of Shepherd’s Care, now happily retired. My career in childcare lasted nearly 23 years and I can proudly say I’ve pretty much done it all. I started out as a volunteer, then became an Aide. From there I became an Assistant Teacher, a Teacher and finally served as one of the Co-Directors for 11 years with my friend Susanne occupying the other Co-Director’s chair. I have taught preschoolers as well as spent time in both the infant and toddler rooms. I will admit that preschoolers were my favorite age to teach.  I was actively involved in the design of the Shepherd’s Care facility as you see it today as well as the development of the curriculum. It was all a joy as well as a challenge. Serving my God in all these ways for all those years was a blessing.

Personally, my husband Randy and I have been married for 41 years and are parents to two grown boys, Jeff and Zach. Zach is single and busy pursuing his career as an accountant.  Jeff is married and he and his wife have given us two beautiful granddaughters. The older one is 8 years old and thriving in third grade. Her sister just turned 3 and is such an adorable little girl with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.  These two little ones help keep me focused on early childhood. We are lucky to be able to visit with them nearly every weekend. Being a grandma is a whole new phase to my life and I’m loving it.

I am currently serving on the Shepherd’s Care Board in an advertising and marketing position. I am focusing my efforts on creating a relationship with you, the parents  I manage our Facebook page (Not a fan yet? Stop by click Like), as well as writing the Ewesletter each month. Now I hope to open a dialogue with you through this blog. I plan to focus my writing on classroom activities and what your child is learning as well as ideas on how to extend that learning at home. There will be posts on teaching your children about Jesus as well. If you have a specific topic you would like to read about, please let me know in the comments section.
